We are committed to ensuring that our products and the way they are made have a positive impact on our ecosystem.
Here’s how we are doing our part:
At KEE Concept, we focus on limited-run and made-to-order production, using only the highest quality materials to create long lasting, beautiful pieces that minimize their impact on the environment.
Thoughtful Sourcing.
We partner with suppliers who encourage creative forms of reuse and circularity, while offering a wide range of materials. Our relationships throughout the entire luxury textile supply chain – from interior-designers, fabric producers, furniture upholsterers, and textile jobbers – provide unique sourcing and upcycling opportunities of high-quality materials. We incorporate everything from hardware sourced off vintage handbags to luxury fabrics from discarded drapes and pillows into our collections. Our access to a luxury brand’s overstock warehouse in France is a great example of a key partner who specifically provides remnants and overstocked textiles only to companies that commit to reuse or repurpose them. This relationship overseas provides access to some of the most exclusive designer fabrics in the world.
Upholstering furniture creates a lot of textile waste, as the shapes the fabric must be fit to result in odd-shaped cuttings that typically are seen as “valueless” and end up in landfills. Because of our smaller product size, KEE Concept has cultivated close industry relationships to source and reinvent these high-end deadstock fabrics into luxury pieces that are truly one of a kind.
Quality Craftsmanship.
KEE Concept was founded on the desire to simply make beautiful things, instead of creating products based around financial performance. Our accessories are crafted by hand, and made individually by skilled craftspeople, not in factories. By utilizing high-end interior design fabrics that are made to last over many decades, we create luxury pieces that can be used often, loved for their timeless appeal, and handed down over generations with care.
We currently keep over 90% of production in-house and as we scale, we carefully vet and are committed to partnering with and supporting fellow women artisans through our business. Our ambition is not only to foster an inclusive workplace, but an inclusive ecosystem in which our people, partners and customers feel welcome, respected and represented.
Zero Waste Design.
Providing more viable end-of-life solutions for textile products and materials will play a critical role in reducing textile waste over the next century. Because we specialize in rare and discontinued prints, our products are limited edition by design, allowing us to intentionally hold minimal inventory and not be another contributor to the fashion industry’s overproduction problem. In addition to our sourcing practices, many product lines – such as our coasters and keychains – were born from a desire to make the most out of every inch of fabrics we source, with zero waste as our end goal.
Every ten pounds of textile waste diverted from landfill has the same CO2-reducing benefit as planting a tree. Working together, small actions can make a big impact, and we are always looking to collaborate with like minded companies and craftspeople to dream up creative uses for the minimal amounts of waste we are left with in our production processes.
